Independent Information. Documented Experience. Supported by the Community.
Serving the people of Lake Marion, Lake Moultrie, and the entire Santee Cooper watershed.
Not driven by profit maximization. Sustained by the community we serve.
Why we exist
All Things Santee Cooper is an independent, community-focused information resource covering the lakes, connected waterways, fisheries, history, public access, recreation and water management. We aim to make useful information understandable and accessible to the public.
Our work includes daily lake-level and wind reporting, watershed and historical research, boat landing coverage, fishing education, contour interpretation and documented on-water observations.
What our reports mean
- Firsthand observations: We identify trips, dates, locations at the published level of detail, recorded conditions, sonar, photographs and video when available. An observation on one day in one area does not establish conditions everywhere on the lake.
- Research and analysis: We distinguish interpretations, seasonal expectations and predictions from actual catches or directly observed fish activity.
- Public data: We identify relevant primary sources such as USGS, National Weather Service and Santee Cooper, and include timestamps and limitations whenever practical. Provisional gauges and forecasts are not firsthand lake measurements.
- Fishing details: Public reports explain specific types of structure and show useful general-area contours. Premium membership information may add exact GPS coordinates, drift paths and advanced tactics. Paid detail never changes what we claim to have verified.
Accuracy, uncertainty and corrections
We verify important claims against available evidence, say when an observation is incomplete, and avoid presenting an untested prediction as a proven fishing result. If we discover a material error, we correct it clearly and update the affected article or report. Readers can raise questions or submit evidence through the All Things Santee Cooper Facebook group.
Editorial independence
Advertising and sponsorship support the work but do not purchase favorable reporting, suppress legitimate criticism, or determine our conclusions. We identify paid promotions and relevant commercial relationships. We apply community advertising and participation rules consistently, regardless of business affiliation.
We do not claim to be a registered nonprofit organization. Our commitment is to serve the community and sustain the time, fuel, equipment, research and publishing needed to do so.
How community support works
Much of our public lake information is freely accessible. Optional Patreon memberships, paid fishing details, books, guides and approved advertising help sustain the work. Our goal is dependable public reporting with enough support to keep doing it, not maximum commercial extraction from lake users.

Safety and source limitations
Information here is educational and informational. Forecasts, online maps, gauge data and fishing reports are not substitutes for official boating warnings, current navigation charts, posted restrictions or personal on-water judgment. Conditions can change rapidly and vary across the lakes.
